1990 Present: Later Career


Gayle released two more studio albums throughout the 1990s: Ain’t Gonna Worry (1990) produced by Allen Reynolds and also Three Good Reasons (1992) Both albums failed to chart and also their singles all failed to reestablish Gayle at country radio, which by this point had actually abandoned older musicians of all kinds. Gayle was ranked No. 33 in a 2002 CMT countdown of the 40 Greatest Women of Country Music. She was awarded Best Female Entertainer in 2007 by the Second Annual American Entertainment Magazine Reader‘s Choice Awards. In February 2008, she was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. On October 2, 2009, Gayle received star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame throughout ceremony in Hollywood, California. She continues to tour and also performs 40 to 60 shows a year. In 2016, it was announced that Gayle would certainly receive the Cliffie Stone pioneer award from the Academy of Country Music which is to be presented at a televised ceremony in August.

On November 15, 2016 almost half a century after making her debut as a guest musician, Crystal Gayle was asked to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry by Carrie Underwood. Crystal Gayle Albums

American country musician Crystal Gayle has released twenty four studio albums (among which was collaborative), seventeen compilation albums, two video albumsone live album, one soundtrack album, and also has appeared on sixteen additional albums. Gayle signed with United Artists Records in 1974 and started recording albums. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1975peaking at number twenty five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. After releasing two similar studio albums, Gayle released We Must Believe in Magic in 1977. Reaching number two on the country albums chart and number twelve on the Billboard 200it became the first album by a female country musician to certify platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. When I Dream (1978) also peaked in the second position of the Top Country Albums survey as well as certified platinum in the USA. Her seventh studio album, Miss the Mississippi (1979 ), was released on Columbia Records as well as certified gold in the USA. These Days achieved similar status in 1980.Her ninth studio album entitled Hollywood, Tennessee(1981) included several cover versions of pop music songs. In 1983, Gayle released her first greatest hits collection,Crystal Gayle‘s Greatest Hits prior to leaving Columbia. Gayle recorded the soundtrack for One from the Heart with Tom Waits prior to signing with Elektra Records. Her tenth studio album, True Love (1982 ), peaked at number fourteen on the Top Country Albums chart and number one hundred twenty on the Billboard 200. Cage the Songbird (1983) reached the fifth position on the country albums survey and also became her final release to peak on the Billboard 200. Following the release of her twelfth studio album in 1985, Gayle teamed up with Gary Morris to record What If We Fall in Love?(1986 ). This was followed by a Christmas album and her last studio album of the decade in 1988Nobody‘s Angel. Although her appeal declined, Gayle continued recording, releasing the studio albums Ain’t Gonna Worry (1990) and Three Good ReasonsThroughout the mid 1990s, Gayle began venturing into various styles of music. She released an album of Gospel music entitled Someday in 1995 and an album of Children‘s music in 2000, In My Arms. She also recorded two albums of American standard songs throughout this time around. Gayle‘s latest was 2003‘s All My Tomorrows.
